BAHRAIN’S biggest annual gathering of food, beverage and hospitality industry professionals has doubled in size, it has been announced.
The second Food and Hospitality Expo kicks off at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre on Tuesday under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
More than 80 exhibitors from around the world are set to descend on the event, organised by Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority (BECA) — an increase of more than 100 per cent from the 40 participants last year.
The exhibition space itself is also twice the size, having increased from 3,000 square metres to 6,000.
LuLu Hypermarket provides the perfect example of the growth, as it has doubled the size of its stand to 320sqm.
Featuring a range of products and services related to all aspects of food and beverage, catering equipment, food-processing technology and packaging, the exhibition will run in Hall 2 of BIEC until Thursday.
Among other companies taking part will be Nestle Bahrain, Babasons, Bahrain Modern Mills, Chinese Centre for Kitchen Equipment Company, Diplomat Radisson BLU Hotel Residence and Spa, Gulf Hotel, Mšvenpick Hotel, InterContinental Regency Bahrain, Noor Al Bahrain, Tamkeen, Tariq Pastries and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).
The expo will also play host to a special Thai Pavilion, organised by the Thai Embassy.
It will showcase authentic Thai food and the products and services of Thai companies engaged in the culinary and beverage industry.
UK-based hospitality tableware manufacturer Steelite International plans to launch its new symbol fine-bone China and porcelain ranges among other products at the event.
The expo has been endorsed by the Industry and Commerce Ministry and forms part of BECA’s events portfolio, which functions under the stewardship of Industry and Commerce Minister and BECA chairman Dr Hassan Fakhro.
“The expo offers a tremendous opportunity for exhibiting companies in one of the world’s most lucrative markets,” said BECA chief executive officer Hassan Jaffer Mohammed.
“We will endeavour to deliv
er added value especially for retailers wishing to boost their sales through the many opportunities for partnerships that can be made at the show.”
The expo has so far received extensive support from sponsors Bahrain Airport Services, Coca-Cola and LuLu Hypermarket, with Gulf Air acting as official carrier for the event.
It has also gained support from certification and training body, TUV Middle East, which will provide workshops with the objective of raising the food industry’s safety standards, preserving consumer confidence in the products of Bahrain’s food industry and complying with the requirements of international food safety management system standards.
