The First Photos of Fashion 26’s Guest Rooms Are Here

Before the snowicane hit last night, we were doing a little Facebook trawling and noticed one of our favorite things: new guest room photos from a new hotel! The property in question was one of New York’s new Recession Luxe hotels, Fashion 26. We don’t know about you but we’ve been absolutely dying to see how value-oriented (Wyndham) meshes with the notoriously pricey fashion world.

So what’s the verdict? Well, at first glance, the rooms looks small but simply appointed. Elegant enough for a Wyndham. (It actually reminded us of fellow Recession Luxies, The Distrikt and The Strand.) But then, just like with fashion, we took a few steps back with this second photo showing a wider shot of the room. We’re totally down with the coffee maker (and is that a microwave?) and the peek of dotted wallpaper is a nice touch, but what is with that carpet? Do we have another member of the Fugly Hotel Carpet Club on our hands?

We know all the reasons why carpets are dark or patterned or made in hard, short, textures, but blue? Really? Combined with the heaviness of the desk (we blame the color more than the size), it takes away from the pretty simplicity of the room when you just see the bedding and the sheer curtains.

Let this be a style reminder to us all to step back and take in the whole picture when putting together an outfit. It’s one thing to wear a killer dress, but pair it with some fugly shoes or the wrong jacket and you could go from The Sartorialist to What Not To Wear in two seconds flat.

Of course, with all fashion photography, these images could be misleading. We’ll withhold our final elimination judgement until the hotel opens on April 15 and we can see the property in its entirety with our very own eyes.
